Save the Words - This site from the Oxford Dictionary has been shut down but the archives of the site are available. The premise is that a hundred words are dropped from the English language each year. This site aims to keep some of those words alive by allowing users to adopt a word. If you adopt a word you promise to use the word in conversation to the best of your ability. An interesting idea for the classroom.

Ideas for writing topics, allows teacher to track student activity, allows students to share writing as well as annotate and comment on the writing of their peers. No student sign up required. Teacher signs up and provides students with a code with which to sign in (similar to Edmodo).
